With summer over, the crowds have begun to disperse from Ibiza, but that doesn’t mean the entire isle rolls up their sidewalks until next Spring.
For the next 6-8 weeks, temperatures during the day will remain pleasantly warm, the beaches will be blissfully empty, and for those looking for one last hurrah, many bars and nightclubs will be open until Halloween.
If you are set on discovering Ibiza this fall for the first time, here is what you need to see and do…
1) Hit the shops, restaurants and bars in Ibiza Town
Have you ever wanted to travel to Ibiza? If visiting this lively island in the Spanish Mediterranean has long been one of your travel goals, then the first thing you might want to do is to live it up in bars, restaurants and shops in Ibiza Town.
Fashion boutiques selling accessories and outfits from local designers and famed international brands can be found in abundance, fine French, Italian and Spanish dining establishments share sidewalk space with eateries serving down to earth British fare, Chinese and other variants of fast food, and there is a dizzying array of world famous nightclubs everywhere you walk.
Simply put, Ibiza is a hedonist’s paradise.
2) Go on a day trip to Es Vedra
Soaring 400 metres above the surface of the ocean, the rocky island of Es Vedra is a sight that you won’t be able to miss during your time on the west coast of Ibiza.
This tiny isle has been the subject of countless legends and mythologies over the centuries, as its purported magnetic properties play havoc with compasses and navigational instruments, and by some believers, it is suspected to be the tip of the lost civilization of Atlantis or the location of a clandestine underwater UFO base.
Wild stories aside, the view from its sheer cliffs and from boat cruises which circle its shores will make for an excellent afternoon away from laying idle on the beach.
3) Lounge on the beach of your dreams
There isn’t anything wrong with enjoying Ibiza’s strips of sand though, as it is home to some truly spectacular ones along its craggy coastline.
Sure, some are packed with scenesters looking to get the party started at 1 in the afternoon (and if you are looking to cut loose, you’ll have a blast at spots like Playa d’en Bossa), but others are delightfully deserted, such as Cala d’Hort, as its protected status within a national park work to keep the commercialised masses at bay, making it a great place for families.
4) Experience its history by exploring the Castle of Ibiza
While many here are solely focused on enjoying themselves, Ibiza actually does have a history worth discovering.
One of its greatest attractions in this regards is the Castle of Ibiza, which was built in the 12th century, when the Moors controlled this island and much of the Iberian peninsula.
Its extensive ramparts make for a great walk in the cooler morning and evening hours, when great views of the Old Town and the Mediterranean can be had.
